The Keys to Surviving the Beginning of Sorrows

By Bill Wilson
Word of Life Ministry

Many people have written and asked how they are to survive if the times continue to worsen. Many look at the nation's debtand wonder how the American economy can sustain any type of recovery. Many see the arrogance and lack of response of those they elected to govern and wonder if there is any hope for the future. Many see what is in front of them and are matching it with what they know of Bible prophecy. They understand the signs of the times. Yet they are curious about their very own survival in these days which seem to have one bad thing after another occur. Those who once had control of their lives - good jobs, a retirement, a home, security for the future - but no longer do, are questioning what next.

There are two things that I believe we can do: 1) continue to be salt and light to the world, and 2) seek the most intimate and personal relationshipwith Father God through Jesus Christ as you possibly can. In these two things, there is hope eternal. We cannot stop the march of prophecy, but we can determine our place in it - both as individuals, and collectively as a nation. As individuals we can do the work that God has instructed us to do until his return. And if we are doing that work diligently and with the passion of Christ - we will be making changes in our nation one heart at a time. All the while, we need to be in the word, in prayer, seeking the Lord continuously.

Psalm 20:7 says,

"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."

This means that while others put their trust in the things of the world that give them security and strength, we will trust in God for these things. The prophet Isaiah gives us a clear warning in Isaiah 31:1,

"Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord."

You see there is strength, security and comfort found in the Lord that cannot be found in the worldly powers.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:28-34,

"...Consider the lilies of the field...That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothed the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, should he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Put your trust in God, not in what you see and hear, and be encouraged!

LastCall: the most-quoted Bible verse -Joyce Meyer

We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
—Romans 8:28

After John 3:16, Romans 8:28 is probably the most-quoted Bible verse among Christians. Paul’s words bring comfort and peace to many of us in our difficulties and hardships. They give us hope that no matter what hurts and disappointments come in our lives, everything will eventually work out for our good.

The two verses preceding Romans 8:28 talk about prayer. They say that when we don’t know how to pray as we ought to, the Holy Spirit comes to our aid and prays through us. It is through these Holy Spirit-filled prayers that all things work together for good, no matter what they are. Not all things that happen to us are good in and of themselves, but God is good and He can cause them to work toward our good if we trust Him.

Continuing to trust God is the key to victory in painful and seemingly unjust situations. Faith and prayer move the hand of God. If we continue believing, He promises to continue moving in our behalf to work everything out for good.

God makes this promise to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. We must love God with all of our hearts, and we must want His will. We must be willing to submit to His plan at all times.

The plan that God has for us eventually changes us into His image. We are destined to be molded into His image. That may sound spiritual, but in reality, it usually hurts. I often think of clay being pressed into a mold, and wonder how the clay would feel if it had feelings. Being changed into an entirely different shape would probably be painful. If we take a lump of clay and press it into a mold, there is always too much clay to fit, and some pieces must be discarded. I found that there was more of me than would fit into the mold of Jesus Christ, so many of my thoughts, words, and actions had to be discarded.

We must go through things that are difficult and learn how to respond to them the way Jesus would. We must not give way to the fearful thoughts and feelings that attack us. We must learn to remain steadfast, knowing that no matter how things appear now, God will work them out for our good—and in the process, He will use them to make us better people.

God’s purpose in everything that happens is to make us more like Jesus Christ. Jesus was the totally obedient one. “Although He was a Son, He learned [active, special] obedience through what He suffered” (Hebrews 5:8).

We also learn through what we suffer. We learn from God’s Word and life’s experiences. Because of our sinful nature, we tend to fight God at every point, but this only makes the process longer and more painful. Learn to surrender quickly, and save yourself a lot of agony. I’ve learned that God gets His way in the end, so why prolong the process?

Where the mind goes the man follows. Keep your mind going in the right direction, and your life will catch up with it. A person who has their faith firmly planted in God cannot be defeated. The Bible says that Joseph’s brothers hated him, but God was with him. God gave him favor and promoted him, so we see that his faith in God lifted him above his circumstances.

Some terrible things happened to Joseph. His brothers sold him to slave traders and told his father a wild animal had killed him. He was betrayed by those whom he served and tried to help, but God was watching him all the time. God had a good plan for Joseph, and it came to pass. He ultimately said that although the things that happened to him were originally meant for harm, God intended it for good.

This same thing is true for all of us. Satan cannot defeat us if we keep believing that God is working for our good, and that we are being continually transformed into His image.

Pray this...

All-wise and loving God, make me more like Jesus. I don’t like to suffer, and I hate to fail, but through Jesus Christ, I ask You to teach me and enable me to understand that, because of You, everything truly works together for my good. Amen.

One Thousand Years: Genesage "Perfect Timing" (Chapter 10:11)

One Thousand Years

Genesage

“Perfect Timing"

(Chapter 10:11)

Delilah scolded him forcefully.

And that was being polite about it.

She was much older than Ezravivor and realized many years ago he really was inexperienced when it came to women. She was from the Old World and He was from the New. She full of experiences and he fresh and new as a new born lamb full grown. At first she had thought it would make her a “cougar” but with Ezravivor it felt more like cradle robbing.

Of course she wouldn’t admit HER feelings on the subject.

Ezravivor stood up.

His brawny shoulders looked dejected. His robe was dripping wet and looking soggy. He was the epitome of rejection and he sadly walked up out of the water dripping on the rock as he went. So much for a perfect moment. But he had been through bad timing before. He knew he just had to try ..try again…. and one day he would get the timing right.

This was not the right timing….obviously.

Delilah thought, how pathetic.

She saw how miserable he looked and pitied him in some ways. She almost felt bad for how she treated him, almost. There was still a prt of her that just would not give an inch.

Still, he looked so sad and…,

Suddenly Ezravivor grabbed both her arms and holding them tightly to her sides he leaned in and didn't mash her lips this time.

He kissed her hard.  He felt her lips, her teeth, her mouth, on his. He felt the startled parting of them as if in protest,  and as he did he lifted her straight up and cast her as hard and as far as he could from him.

Fortunately she sailed fairly well.

Even more fortunate was the fact that Ezravivor was fairly strong. He was used to throwing things away from him.  After all he did have a brother. They did tend to wrestle.

Fortunate also was the fact that Delilah had her back to the water and Ezravivor paid enough attention to throw her in the general direction of it. She didn’t land on anything hard, just wet.

It was also in Delilah's favor that no one was around watching because as she was kissed, she had slightly lost her breath and concentration. For a moment she almost gave into the pressure of his mouth on hers.  So when he had cast her, at that moment she had no balance, no sense of direction, and had flailed her legs and arms like a cartwheel in the air till she landed in a deeper part of the water.

One moment romance, next all wet, felt right to Ezravivor.

Perfect Timing.

Sputtering gasping and mad as only Delilah could be she stood up from the water yelling at him. Standing with hands on hips, dripping wet, she stomped in the water and splashed even more. Her robe now was more than form fitting and Ezravivor couldn't stop laughing at her as she continued her tirade. And that had to have lasted an hour or more, or so it seemed.

He also admired her at the same time tilting his head in mock interest. He even looked he up and down like he had seen his father do to his mother. He watched her and couldn't help but notice every jiggle and wiggle and bounce as every punctuation point that she stomped mad at him about only made her look more ridiculous and frankly desirable.

Finally having had enough laughing he waded in after her.

She was ready for him.

When he got close the right hook she threw he ducked under. The kick at him was caught by her wet robe. He got closer so as she tried to get away he caught her easily by the arm pulling her close to him. Again wisdom the better part of valor he held her arms powerfully at her side as he kissed her again.

He finally kissed  her as a man kisses a woman.

Delilah melted. Her resolve was gone. She went limp and Ezravivor released her arms.  Even as they repositioned for comfort standing in each other’s arms, they embraced again and kissed. Full bodied embrace and long kiss Delilah had decided right then and there it was time her and Ezravivor married.

He had grown up.

This was no boy kissing her. She could feel it in him. This was a powerful man coming into his own and it was time. Perfect Timing. She was more than ready to have a man in her life.

That man would be Ezravivor.

Others had married of the Genifers, the first generation of those born in the Kingdom and Ezravivor was in his thirties. She had asked him once about ten years earlier who or why he had not married. He had said one day He would marry her. She had laughed at him then had not talked to him after that for almost three years.

Still he had waited faithfully like a little puppy in love.

Apparently the puppy love grew up. He was still here, and now in her arms and on her lips.

Besides, thought Delilah as she powerfully and sensually kissed Ezravivor this time, he feels good.

LastCall: Para-Church vs Para-Cletos

While I agree with Pastor Bob Coy on this issue, I also disagree in some ways.

You do as God Leads You.

If it be that the Holy Spirit of God within you who raised Jesus from the dead

And Jesus Himself in speaking to you is directing you to be alone for some time

Then as Paul Did I Say

“Whatsoever God is telling you to do, that you should do”

However, like Abraham, you are likely to screw up and still serve God, then have the assurance from being involved in a ministry.

I believe in Para-ministry and the New Venue of Web Based teaching,

But I know this too

There is Great Good in Church and Needful for Birthing Believers

In heaven there will be a bride, but there will be no church.

Dear Michael,

I got wind of a trend. You might have noticed also: many people believe going to church or belonging to an organized group of believers is not necessary for a strong connection to God. It's an idea rising amongst the next generation--the "millennials." Of course, as a pastor, I do have some thoughts to share about it. I explain in a new video blog post. Be sure to check it out and if you have a friend or family member who's subscribed to the idea of "non-organized religion" be sure to send it their way too.

Until the whole world hears,
